Progressive junior club Newton Athletic are holding open trials and are on the hunt for a new sponsor.

With more than 250 players across 20 junior and senior teams, the club is already one of the biggest in Cheshire but wants to grow even further next season.

Open trials for all age groups will take place at The Cheshire County Sports Club in Upton on Saturday, June 7, with the club keen to hear from potential players, managers and coaches.

Newton Athletic is one of only 20 clubs across Chester to achieve FA Charter Standard Community Club status.

In addition, the club has now been awarded partner status with sportswear giant Nike, giving them access to coaching courses, branding support, community days and equipment.

Fundraising officer Dave O’Brien said the club was now hoping to create another partnership with a city-based business to help build on its success.

He said: “We are a not-for-profit club with all funds invested in improving our players and coaches, supporting our vision to enhance the lives of those within our community.

“Traditionally we have sought multiple kit sponsors across each of our separate teams.

“However, given the anticipated growth of the club and our vision, we are now looking for one prominent sponsor for all of our kits and equipment.

“This is a unique opportunity for children's community football in our city.”
