CHESTER CITY'S youngsters recorded a memorable victory last night when they defeated Premiership club Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the third round of the FA Youth Cup at the Deva Stadium.

City dominated proceedings in the first half and went ahead with a headed goal after 15 minutes from Paul McManus.

Chester had chances to extend their lead in the second half, but the Spurs' keeper was in outstanding form to deny them. Chester will now visit the winners of the Bristol City-Fulham third round tie in the fourth round.

A delighted City youth team coach Jim Hackett said: "The lads were tremendous, and thoroughly deserved the win. This has been a memorable night for Chester City Football Club."
