WOLVES Cubs took a five-point lead in the Best Sports U8s league after beating second-placed Heath Rangers 2-1.

In the U8s Rocksavage Power Co League, Beechwood Fusion gained their first point - from a battling 4-4 draw against Brookvale Utd.

Brookvale City also got off the mark in the U9s LHT league with a gritty 0-0 draw with Barca.

Inter Union U11s continue to set the pace after a 6-1 win over Cromwell Athletic.

Inter, kicking into a strong wind, took a first-half lead against the run of play thanks to Josh Archer and in the second half took great advantage of the conditions with goals from Wade Muscart, Jordan Maddock, Lewis Boult, Jamie Weeder and Liam Goff.

Heath United moved into second place with a 4-3 win at JFC Pavilions Pumas. Goals came from Jake Shaw, Ryan Whitby, Ryan Glover and a first of the season from Liam Owen. Lewis Gillies was man-of-the-match.

With Dragons FC Under 13s' game called off due to a  waterlogged pitch, the chasing pack had chance to close the gap. But Legion Lions slipped from second to third place after being beaten 6-2 at home by Norton Knights Colts.

Beechwood All Stars climbed into the runners-up position with a 3-2 victory over HRBL.

County Cup heroes Heath Park U13s looked full of confidence as they routed Moorfield Juniors 5-0 on their return to Rocksavage Power League action.

Jordan Cunningham dispossessed a Moorfield full-back to race through for the opener. For the second, man-of-the-match Dec Garevan picked up the ball in the centre circle and advanced 10 before letting rip with a 25-yard screamer.

Fisher fired home from 20 yards after a fine 40th-minute run from halfway.

The inspirational Garevan made it four in 55 minutes with a deceptive cross-cum-shot.

Fisher wrapped up the scoring with 20-yarder.
