CHESTER CITY wing-back Kevin McIntyre is due to join Cheshire neighbours Macclesfield Town.

As one player leaves City another arrived with Preston North End's promising young midfield player Michael Brown joining Chester's ranks last night.

Twenty-year-old Brown has been a regular in the Deepdale club's reserve side this season.

Manager Ian Rush said: "Michael is an attacking midfield player, who reminds me a lot of Terry McDermott." Brown has been allowed by his club to sign on loan for City until the end of this season.

Kevin McIntyre will join Macclesfield later today if he passes a medical and can agree personal terms with the Moss Rose club.

The former Tranmere Rovers and Doncaster Rovers player was a regular in City's Nationwide Conference championship season, but he has found his first team opportunities limited this year.

City are still awaiting a response from Bury following their £50,000 bid earlier this week for the Gigg Lane club's leading scorer David Nugent.

Chester are expecting a bumper Bank Holiday crowd for their Boxing Day home match against Coca-Cola League Two lead-ers Scunthorpe.

Chester players will train at 6pm tomorrow, which is a method utilised in Rush's playing days at Liverpool.

City welcome back Kevin Ellison following suspension, Michael Branch should have recovered from his hamstring injury and be fit to play, while Dave Bayliss and Ian Hillier will make their home debuts.
