CHRISTLETON’S upturn in West Cheshire League form continued on Saturday.

The Swans have endured a tough season, but their 2-1 win at Willaston extended their unbeaten Division One run to three games and lifted them up to 11th in the standings.

Jamie Rogers struck twice to secure the victory. His second goal was the pick of his brace as he sent a superb diving header into the back of the net from Andy Shelton’s cross.

Helsby are also going well. They are now just three points off the top three and unbeaten in seven after a 3-1 home victory over Cammell Laird Reserves.

Lewis Buckley, Andy Dunning and Matty Johnston fired the Green Machine to their latest success.

Two own goals ensured Upton AA had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Newton.

Ryan Brown and John Harrickie scored at the right end for Dave Wright’s side.

Rock-bottom Blacon Youth Club gave it their all, but they still crashed to a 5-0 defeat at table-topping Maghull.

Chester Nomads’ Division Two title hopes were hit by a 1-0 loss at promotion rivals Mossley Hill Athletic.

But Capenhurst Villa had reason to cheer as they won 1-0 at Heswall Reserves to book their place in the final of the Division Two Haworth & Gallagher Bowl.

Iain Forster won it for Villa, who will take on leaders Ashville in the decider.

Capenhurst Reserves were unable to make it a club double as they lost their Division Three Shield second-round tie at Hale Reserves 5-3 despite strikes from Luke Eccles (2) and Mark McCafferty.

Christleton Reserves (Danny Davies 2, Josh Wonderley, Steve Hassin) won 4-3 at home to Helsby Reserves (Warren Kelly, Adrian Callaghan, Paul Abram) to move up to ninth in Division Three.
