CHRISTLETON scored four goals for the second week running as they extended their unbeaten West Cheshire League Division One run to six matches on Saturday.

Ged Peacock’s in-form side staged a spirited fightback and overcame the loss of goalkeeper Josh O’Connell to win 4-3 at home to Southport Trinity.

Buzzing after their 4-0 victory at Willaston seven days earlier, Christleton were brought back down to earth when Southport raced into a two-goal lead inside the first 20 minutes.

Peacock reshuffled his pack and, despite having O’Connell sent off, the Swans showed powers of recovery to take the three points with strikes from John Coulter, Ronnie Moran (pen), Nathan Mapletoft and Paul Kenyon.

Christleton are now up to 10th in the table, level on points with Chester Nomads.

Eighth-placed Nomads slipped to their third straight defeat when they went down 3-0 at second-placed West Kirby.

One point further back in 12th are Upton AA.

They returned to winning ways with a deserved 2-1 triumph at Marshalls.

Dinu Maghici headed Upton level before Todd Reid settled the match in the dying moments when he hammered home from 25 yards.

Rejuvenated Blacon Youth Club made it three victories in a row after they came from behind to beat Willaston 2-1 at Cairns Crescent.

Adam Langton equalised before John Dowridge sealed a win which moved Blacon up to 13th – and within one point of Upton and two of Christleton and Nomads.

Malpas lost an incident-packed Cheshire League Division Two encounter at Whaley Bridge 3-1 on Saturday.

Daniel Lloyd scored from the spot for Malpas, who had missed an earlier penalty and also had a man sent off.
