Jon McCarthy admitted he 'made mistakes' after watching his Chester FC side go down 3-1 at Woking on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Blues boss made three changes to the side that beat Sutton United 4-0 on Saturday, one of which was enforced following Theo Vassell's injury at the weekend.

But Chester, in truth, were second best for large parts of the contest and Woking were full value for the win, prompting an honest appraisal from the Blues boss post game.

Joey Jones heads home Woking's second goal

"I've made a few mistakes today. I've got stuff wrong with the team (at Woking) and I haven't got it right," said the Blues boss.

"We made a lot of changes with the right intentions. We spent a lot of time on Woking, we are not complacent. I just didn't see some stuff and I made some wrong decisions which hasn't helped the lads.

"It's disappointing but we look to move on."

The Blues are back in action this weekend when they face high-flying Forest Green Rovers, one of the favourites for promotion this season, at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium (3pm).
