Chester FC boss Jon McCarthy was a pleased man after watching his side beat Sutton United 4-0 at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.

Goals from Blaine Hudson, Ryan Lloyd, a Tom Shaw penalty and a late Kane Richards effort handed Chester a deserved three points over Sutton and a confidence boost ahead of Monday's trip to Woking (3pm).

The Blues were 2-0 up within seven minutes and were full value for the win against a tough Sutton side who had won their previous three games.

And McCarthy was delighted with how his side performed.

The Blues boss said: "They are third in the table, have won their last three games and come here and we have won well. We won handsomely and convincingly.

"Sometimes you need a result like that for a little bit of confidence."
