THE top two in the Premier Division of the Chester League are going strong with Tarporley Vics narrow leaders over Hoole Rangers.

Vics had Simon Gresty (2), Andy Clacker and Anthony Killilea on target in a 4-1 win at Chester Nomads Seconds (Andy Smith), while Hoole were 4-2 winners at Cestrian Alex (Adie Gough pen, Paul Finch, pen), thanks to James Toop, Lennox Beddows (2) and Ian Hastings.

Mike Neary hit four goals and Ian Savage was on the mark as Kydds Athletic edged Upton Borough (Danny Andrews 2, Luke Jackson) 5-3 and Barrow Athletic remain pointless following a 2-0 home defeat by Waggon and Horses OB.

Frodsham United and Brewery Arms shared six goals, John Brown-bill (2) and Gavin Daly netting for Frodsham and Chris Donnelly (2) and Michael Edwards for the visitors.

Christleton A retained the lead in Division One despite losing at home to Chester Nomads Thirds by the odd goal in seven. George Rogers, John Campbell, Sean Williams and Andy Baker scored for Nomads and Wayne Reading, Chris Gilligan and Dave Carman hit back for the hosts

An Ian Daltry double and a Gareth Edwards strike earned Bank of Scotland a 3-1 home win over Team Highfield (Graham Tomlinson) and bottom club MBNA Reserves picked up their first point in a 3-3 home draw with Tarvin Athletic (John Wyatt 2, Steve Whittaker) with goals by Kevin Pickering (2) and Lee Highfield.

The Crossway v Frodsham Utd Res and Kelsall v Barrow Athletic 2nds games were postponed. The following players have been suspended by the Cheshire FA from October 11-November 14: C Anderson (Boathouse); A McGregor (Boat-house and Waggon OB) and H Roberts (Newton Athletic and Christleton).

Bull's Head took over top spot in Section B with a 4-0 win at ROB Christleton with an Adam Newbolt hat-trick and a goal by Gavin Smith.

Vicars Cross Dynamos share the same points, but have played an extra game following their 3-2 win at Dee Rangers (Mike Jeffs, Pete Mort), while third-placed Upton YC were 4-0 winners at Red Lion with goals by Pat Walsh, Danny Jarrett, Dave Carman and an own goal.

Simon Andrews hit a hat-trick as Dee Miller won 5-0 at ROB Frod-sham, James Andrews and Nigel Williams on target and Ben Briscoe hit five as Duddon won 7-2 at Red House. Shaun Marsh and 16-year-old Andy Rogers completed the rout.

Paul Woodiwiss's brace for Pace Telecom was rubbed out by visitors Ship Victory who responded with seven goals, led by Luke Jackson (3), Luke Griffiths, Steve Bostock (2) and Pete Wheeler.

Tarvin Rex ousted Corner Pin (Lee Woodworth) from the lead in Section C by beating them 5-1 with goals by Neil Astbury (2), Shaun Page, Stu Johnson and Shaun Roberts.

At the other end of the table Eger -ton Arms shared six goals with Boat -house who had John Brown (2) and Craig Anderson on the mark.

Black Dog crashed 7-0 at Custom House - Alan Smith (2), Chris Bruce, Dale Harris, Darren Jones, Kevin Broom and Dave Fielding.

There was a feast at MBNA as the hosts beat Bromfield Arms 8-4 with goals from Alan North (3), Neil Thomas (2), Phil Ratcliffe (2) and John Dowdswell and St Werburgh's beat Chester ISA (Matthew George 2, Marc Edwards) 5-2.
