TARPORLEY Vics closed to within four points of Premier Division leaders Blacon YC Reserves.

With the table-toppers out of action, Vics cashed in by defeating hosts Frodsham United 4-2 with goals from Damian Woods (2), Ally Taylor and Ed Patterson. Gavin Daily hit United's replies.

Hoole Rangers kept up their challenge with a 4-2 home win over Team Highfield, with Lennox Beddows (2), Nathan Freeman and Mark Roberts getting their goals. Graham Carine and Chris Larson were on the mark for Highfield.

A Jamie Colbourne strike handed Duddon United a 1-0 win over Chester Nomads seconds while Adam James scored a consolation for Barrow Athletic in their 6-1 loss to Brewery Arms. Chris Gilmartin, Chris Donnelly (2) and Paul Davies (3) were the Brewery scorers.

Andrew Richard scored his first goal in almost a decade to help Waggon and Horses record a 2-1 win at Kydds Athletic. Paul Bennion scored the winner from the penalty spot while Gary Pollitt netted for Kydds.

Newton Athletic fought back from 3-1 down at half time to record a 3-3 draw at Cestrian Alex. Adi Gough bagged a first-half hat-trick for the Alex, while Gary Price, Darren Holmes and Mark Dutton were on target for Newton.

In Division One, a Ryan Roddy treble helped leaders Team Highfield seconds to a 4-2 home win over Bebington. Scott Broad-bent chipped in with Highfield's other goal.

Goals from Mike Blocker, Andy Baker, Robin Crimes and Adrian Miller fired Chester Nomads Thirds to a 4-0 triumph at Runcorn Albion, while Matthew Hallal (2) and Leroy Robinson scored as Blacon YC A overcame Bank of Scotland 3-1.

Crossway drew 2-2 with Barrow Athletic Seconds, Alan Edwards and Danny Brown getting their goals. Barrow's scorers were Kevin Gilgrist and Steve Kennedy.
