Chester 1 Northwich 2
Northwich striker Steve Garvey scored a brace to help his side clinch a hard-fought 2-1 win over Chester at the Deva Stadium.
Jimmy Quinn's side missed a gilt-edged opportunity early in the game when Gary Talbot fired wide, but they managed to open the scoring in the 29th minute when Garvey scored from close range.
Chester, with new manager Mark Wright at the helm, fought their way back into the contest and Chris Blackburn equalised with a 25-yard effort nine minutes later.
Both sides had chances to wrap up victory in the second half but it was Garvey who netted the crucial winner for Northwich in the 83rd minute.
