UPTON AA are seeking an upturn in their fortunes tomorrow when they go to Aintree Villa.

After losing key player Danny Andrews to UniBond League side Cammell Laird, a depleted Upton will be looking to regroup and take the game to their opponents.

Manager Dave Wright said: “It will be a difficult game away in Liverpool. Their teams want the ball a lot and they like to play.

“We’ve lost a vital cog in Danny but we will just try to stay together as a team and hopefully the lads will get back on track.

“We always try to get the win otherwise there’s no point being competitive but it will be tough because of their home advantage.”

Blacon YC moved off the bottom of Division One for the first time this season despite a heavy loss to fellow strugglers Ellesmere Port.

Thanks to relegation rivals Halton being deducted three points, goals from Ben Harvey, Nathan Mapletoft, Peter McNulty and Peter Charles in a 4-1 defeat couldn’t stop Blacon climbing to second from bottom. John Dean scored a consolation goal for Blacon.

A brace from Stuart Carroll earned a point in a 2-2 draw with Christleton for Castrol Social. The home team’s goals came from Paul Fraser and Paul Hollifield.

In Division Two, Helsby are looking to build on last week’s cup win when they go to Bebington tomorrow.

Manager Dave Nethercroft said: “We want to keep the momentum going. We are at full strength and have added a new goalkeeper in Alex James from Winsford and midfielder Dean Ramanouski from Halton FC.

“Bebington are flying and we are expecting a hard game but we are aiming to keep in touch with the top two and keep winning. Promotion is our goal.”

A hat-trick by Nick Askey and goals from Kevin Patterson and Mark Connor secured a 5-0 win at home for Helsby against Runcorn Albion Reserves in the Runcorn FA Cup first round last week.

Chester Nomads turned over Bronze Social 1-0 to move out of the bottom three thanks to a goal from Mike Jeffs.

Capenhurst Villa couldn’t better mid-table competitors Willaston and drew 1-1. Alan Locke scored the home team’s effort and James Clare got the goal for Willaston.

Manor Athletic moved fourth in the league after a 2-1 defeat of Capenhurst Villa Reserves.
