Chester FC have announced 19-year-old forward Tom Peers will be retained for the 2015-16 campaign.

Warrington-born Peers made 10 league appearances last season, although nine of those came from the bench, and scored his first senior goal in the 2-0 win at FC Halifax Town in December .

Peers has been with the Blues since 2010 and his prolific scoring record for the club's youth teams led former manager Neil Young to give him his first-team debut aged 17.

Peers, who had a productive spell on loan at 1874 Northwich during the 2013-14 season, was loaned to Hednesford Town in August, netting three times in seven starts for the Pitmen.

He returned to Chester and made regular substitutes before his goal against Halifax, but was then sent out on loan to Marine to gain further experience

Peers bagged eight goals in just nine games for the Crosby club and that prompted Steve Burr to recall him in March, including him in the squad for the final seven games of the season.

Burr had suggested Peers would be given pre-season to earn himself a deal but has decided to offer him a contract for the next 12 months as a reward for his progress.

Peers will sign the deal later this week before returning along with the rest of the squad for the start of training in July.
