CREWE and District League leaders Sandbach United moved two points clear at the top after a 3-1 derby victory over Sandbach.

A Nick Gilbert double and Mike Thompson strike sealed the win, while Aidy Socha scored Sandbach's consolation. Second-placed Curshaws had to settle for a share of the spoils after drawing 3-3 with hosts Winnington Avenue.

Pete Riley, Craig Millington and an own goal made up the Winnington tally but Andy Jackson (2) and Lee Amery levelled for the visitors.

Congleton Athletic moved into third after Tim Allen got the only goal of the game to defeat Bunbury 1-0.

Tim Clark's early opener for Malpas was cancelled out by Aston Barratt, Rob Sherwood and Dan Lennon, who earned MMU Cheshire a 3-1 away win.

The games between Bentley and Winnington Reserves and Crewe Reserves and Sandbach Town were lost due to waterlogged pitches.

And the weather decimated the league programme in the Crewe Regional Sunday League. However, those that could get a game got enough goals for everyone.

In the Premier Division, White Lion thrashed Faddiley 11-1 with hat-tricks from Nathan Chevannes and Craig Griggs, a brace from Mike Hilditch, and singles by Gareth Canvin, Alan Tirrell and Keith Ayers. Adam Simcox got the Faddiley consolation.

In Division One, Audlem DK hammered Beeston Hotel 12-1, helped by Paul Cronshaw and Danny Mobley hat-tricks and doubles from Lee Wilkinson and Sean Kell. Jonathan Hopkins and Stuart Cunningham were on target for Beeston.

In the Cheshire Border Counties League, the League Cup second round produced no surprises with all games going to form. PSV Alsager beat Eight Farmer 11-0, with efforts from Whittaker (4) and Sutton (3).

A treble from Gunn and a Hart single helped Rode Heath to a 4-0 win over the Bank, while Alsager Old Corinthians (Lennon 2, Nixon and Broadbent) booked their place in the next round with a 4-0 success over Unionese.

Sneek scored the only goal for the Mere as they overcame neighbours the Oak 1-0, while Broughton United went down 7-1 to Haslington Villa, who struck through Carter, Taylor, Sanderson, Capper, M Boston and R Boston (2).
