Footballers across the area are being invited to take part in an annual seven-a-side football tournament to help raise money for three local charities.

Chester-based MBNA and Chester & Wirral Football League Crossway FC have teamed up to host the competition, which takes place on Saturday, June 18 and will raise money for Hope House Children’s Hospice, Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Development (BIRD) and ShareShop Chester.

More than 200 footballers are expected to take part in the annual fundraiser and it is hoped that as much as £2,000 could be raised and shared equally between each of the charities.

Organiser Ugo Eboh, who plays for Crossway FC, said: “This tournament is now in its 22nd year and we’ve got a fantastic track record of bringing lots of local teams together for a great competition but also raising a significant amount of money for good causes.

“With Euro 2016 on at the same time, we’re expecting a real celebration of football and as always we’ll create a real family atmosphere at the competition. Players can bring their friends and family along to support and we’ll have food, lucky dip, bouncy castle, children and ladies football showcases, face painting and much much more.”

The venue for this year’s tournament will be the Cheshire County Sports Club in Upton and as many as 24 teams will be allowed to take part on a first come first served basis.

To secure a place, teams are required to complete a short player registration form and pay an entry fee of £90. For more details, email Ugo Eboh at mr_ebo7@hotmail.com.
