Steve Burr has urged his Chester FC players to seize their opportunity to play in one of football’s most hotly contested derbies this weekend.

The Blues face Gary Mills’ Wrexham on Saturday (2pm) in what will be Burr’s fourth Anglo-Welsh derby at the Chester helm.

And after masterminding the memorable 2-1 home triumph over the Dragons last season, Burr wants to see his players rise to the occasion once more and end a run of two successive league defeats.

Can the Blues prevail in the derby this weekend?

“It is a massive derby, one of the biggest, and I know how important it is to the fans,” said Burr.

“But it is important to the players too and they have to realise that games like these don’t come around every day.

“A full house, the bragging rights, it’s all on the line in derby games like these and I want the players to go out there and make the most of the opportunity.

“We’ve had a couple of tough results recently at Welling and Bromley and there is no better place than this weekend to get back on track.

“To be honest, I wish I was putting on my boots again this weekend. The win over Wrexham last season in front of the cameras was amazing. Hopefully this one will be another cracker.”
