THREE goals in five minutes before the break and another almost immediately after the restart put Mond in complete command.

Wayne Linnett achieved the rare feat of a hat-trick of penalties as the visitors ran amok in West Cheshire Division Two.

Early play had swung from end to end and Linnett brought a good save from the home keeper with a powerful drive before Eddie Droughton struck the bar. At the other end, Percival did well to hold a point-blank header.

But then, with five minutes of the half left, Thompson opened the scoring with a shot angled across the keeper. Cogswell headed home in the 42nd minute and then, when Nelson was brought down in the area, Linnett slammed the penalty into the bottom corner.

Thompson got the fourth in the 46th minute, following a run up the left, then he created an opening for Paul Jones to fire home. Reckless challenges by Willaston's defence resulted in bookings and two more penalties, which Linnett accepted.

Mersey Royal 4 Mond Rangers Res 1: A goal down at the interval, Mond rallied and a Simon Worthington special brought them a deserved equal-iser. Royal regained the lead in the 70th minute and two late goals put an unfair slant on the result. This Saturday, Mond travel to Chester to play Upton in WCL Division Two. Mond Reserves entertain Upton Reserves in a Division Three game.

Both are 2pm kick-offs and all play-ers should meet at Pavilions for 12.30pm.
