Chester FC attacking midfielder Sean McConville needs one more goal to reach his target for the season.

McConville, who signed a two-year deal when he joined from Stalybridge Celtic last summer, tops the club's scoring charts having netted nine times in all competitions, and leads the team in assists.

Given he was signed when the Blues were preparing for Conference North football, the 26-year-old has repaid Steve Burr's belief he could make an impact in the league above.

McConville said: "I think I've done well, maybe a couple of goals shy of where I should be.

"I've scored nine in total and I've set a few goals up so in the position that I play that's a big thing for me creating goals.

"I set myself double figures at the start of every season so hopefully I can secured that and get to 10, 11 or 12 by the end of the season.

"I think I'm one of the two or three that are here for next season, which is a bonus for me and a bit of security. But on the basis of this year the squad have done well so I'm really looking forward to hopefully kicking on next year and finishing as high as we can."

McConville hasn't started since picking up a knock in the 1-0 defeat at Wrexham on March 7 but impressed off the bench in the 1-1 draw at Alfreton Town last weekend .

He hopes to be involved from the off when Woking come to the Swansway Chester Stadium on Saturday (3pm) as the Blues look to end the season with a flourish.

"That's the plan but obviously we've got some big games in there," said McConville.

"It's exciting because we're playing the likes of Bristol Rovers, who are pushing for the league so they'll have a big crowd at their place and it'll be good for a lot of players in our squad to play in front of a big, hostile crowd like Bristol will be.

"Then we've got teams in and around like Woking on Saturday and Forest Green, who are pushing for the play-offs

"There's no rubber stamps or games like pre-season friendlies where you're playing mid-table and it's hard to get motivated far.

"We're playing teams in and around the play-offs who are going to bring big crowds and who are going to be up for it.

"Even the dead games for us now are important for lads who are out of contract. I think theres myself and maybe one or two more who are on contracts so the lads are fighting for their livelihoods.

"Woking will be a tough game and I remember going down to their place earlier in the season. We played well first-half and there wasn't much in the game but we lost 1-0.

"I think Woking will come and try and win the game, which could help us. Whereas Dartford came and parked the bus really, Woking will come out and I think that will suit us better so I'm looking forward to it."
