VAUXHALL Motors’ losing run in Blue Square Bet North continues.

Carl Macauley’s side went down 3-1 at Workington on Tuesday after leading at half-time through a header from captain Tom Hannigan.

The in-form Craig Mahon continued to threaten for Motors but three second-half goals from a dominant Workington team condemned them to a third successive defeat.

Mahon also starred in Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to Gainsborough Trinity.

Tom Rutter had equalised for Motors, who hit the road again on Saturday when they make the eight-hour round trip to Bishop’s Stortford (3pm).

There were Cheshire League Division Two defeats for out-of-form neighbours Tarporley Victoria and Malpas on Saturday.

Vics lost 2-1 at Maine Road Reserves in spite of an Alastair Taylor goal and a man-of-the-match display from Al Moore while Luke Woollam’s brace was in vain for Malpas as they were beaten 6-2 at Moore United.

Crossway will face Crossway Reserves in the Chester & District FA Unite the Union Challenge Cup first round on Saturday.

The inter-club battle is the first team’s reward for a penalty shoot-out success at Peacock 09 on Monday.

The preliminary-round clash finished 3-3 after extra-time. John Shipman and Steve Gore netted for Crossway, Dan Christian (2) and Alexander Vile for Peacock.
