Tough loss to take

BLACON Youth Club were unable to build on their big derby victory as they lost 3-2 at Heswall in West Cheshire League Division One on Saturday.

The Cairns Crescent outfit fell behind early on but battled back to deservedly lead at the break through Adam Langton and Mike Mackin.

Their dominance continued after the restart. The game changed, however, when James Dean was sent off on the hour after he was shown two yellow cards in the space of five minutes.

Blacon then lost impressive new signing Kevin Garland to injury - caused when the referee banged into him – and their mood darkened further when Heswall took advantage of some sloppy defending to score two late goals and take the points.

Langton and Robert Joinson netted in Blacon’s 2-0 home win over Upton AA last Wednesday.

Thanks to Kieran Smith (2), Ed Moss, Matthew Carlin, Sam Burgess, Sam Manton and an own goal, Chester Nomads recorded a stunning 7-1 success at neighbours Christleton on the same night.

Ronnie Morgan replied for Christleton, who bounced back on Saturday as Chris McGann (2) and Peter McGinnity fired them to a 3-0 victory at Hale.

In-form Nomads triumphed 2-0 at Ellesmere Port of Friday courtesy of a Dale Harris brace.

But struggling Upton went down 6-0 at home to Vauxhall Motors Reserves on Saturday.

Helsby (Steve O’Brien) suffered their first Division Two defeat of the season on Friday when they were beaten 4-1 at home by South Liverpool.

Helsby (Wes Huizer) then drew 1-1 at home to Willaston on Tuesday.

In Division Three on the same night, Christleton Reserves (John Pomphrett 2, Joe Gillespie 2, Alec Hutchinson 2, Elliot Corridon) stormed to a 7-2 success at home to Upton AA Reserves (Nathan Freeman 2) while Chester Nomads Reserves (Joe Imlach, Rob Kennerley, Benito Apollonio) ran out 4-0 at Capenhurst Villa Reserves.

Christleton Reserves (Kalombo Mwandwe, Adam Moore, Pomphrett, Gillespie) had won 4-2 at home to Hale Reserves on Friday.
