Chester FC boss Steve Burr insists his refreshed team are ready to rise to the challenge of taking on rivals Wrexham on Saturday (1pm).

Two weeks have passed since Chester's last outing, a 1-0 defeat to Eastleigh, while Wrexham have played three games in that time, drawing with Forest Green, winning at Torquay United and losing at Gateshead.

Although he admits the break has been frustrating, particularly for his squad, Burr has no concerns about his players being under prepared for what most fans consider the most important game of the season.

"We're ready and we're looking forward to it," said Burr, whose team snatched a dramatic win when the clubs last met in September, coming from behind to win 2-1 with goals from Craig Hobson and Ben Heneghan.

"It's a big game and there'll be a great atmosphere there, we're taking a big following and it's an opportunity to do the double over them and obviously more points on the board for ourselves.

"It's always nice to beat your local rivals and I'm sure there'll be going all out to do the same because their record in the derby isn't great in recent years from what it's been. We just want to go there and put a good show on and get back to winning ways.

"We've probably had a bit too much time really with not having a game and it's been a bit frustrating. You know what lads are like, they want to play and sometimes when you're training and training you just want to get back at the games and they don't come much bigger.

"It's one of those games that I just wish I could play in, playing in front of a big crowd and a great atmosphere. This is the biggest derby you'll get outside of the Football League without a shadow of a doubt.

"I'm sure the adrenaline will be pumping through everybody and whoever is picked has got to go out there and do a job and not let anybody down."

"The lads know how important it us for the supporters but it's important from the other side of that we don't let things boil over or get frustrated and we keep our heads because in local derbies the atmosphere and everything can add a bit more tension.

"If we start slow again and we get the same result I'll be more than happy with that.

"Wrexham came out of the traps very quickly in the first game and I think early on we were still bedding in as a team and looking at one or two positions that probably weren't functioning at the time but it was a cracking game and there's no better way to win a game that how we did it.

"I'll take that all day long if it happens again on Saturday. That's what you're involved in football for those type of moments and I'm sure that everybody will remember that game in years to come."
