MALPAS fell to their second defeat of the week on Wednesday as they suffered a narrow loss at home to Whitchurch Alport.

A solitary second-half strike gave the visitors a 1-0 win in a dour derby match that failed to live up to expectations.

Malpas assistant boss Robbie McWilliams said: 'It was a typical derby game with very few chances for either side. They managed to sneak one and we didn't have that extra bit of quality to get ourselves back in it.

'But we are working hard and we are not too far away from welcoming a few lads back from injury and other commitments.'

Malpas endured similar fortunes on Saturday when they were on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller at Stalybridge Celtic reserves.

A double from Andy Parry was not enough to secure an impressive point as the hosts held on for a 3-2 win.

Malpas will bid to end a disappointing week with a win when they entertain Warrington tomorrow.
