WITH 13 games left to save their bacon, Division One's bottom club Ellesmere Port will be hoping that Saturday's 5-0 mauling of Merseyside Police inspires a great escape.

Goals from Carl Smythe, Dave Hall, John Powell, Steve Chambers and Neil Shepherd saw them through but they remain six points adrift of safety.

There was delight for Castrol Social as they edged out West Kirby 3-2 in Division One, on Saturday, thanks to efforts from Jason Renshaw, Kevin West and Tony Livens.

The win came four days after they had eliminated Cammell Laird Reserves from the Pyke Cup with a strike from Gary Scott securing a place in the last eight.

Meanwhile, Vauxhall Reserves' match at Newton was postponed.

Capenhurst Villa's promotion hopes in Division Two, took a hit when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Upton AA.

In Division Three, Willaston took over at the top after doubles from Karl Dunbar and Lee Cairns set up a 4-1 victory over Manor Athletic Reserves.

Grange Athletic were held 2-2 by Upton AA Reserves with Matty Venables and Mike Thelwell their goalscorers.

Mark McAffrey struck twice along with goals from Nick Cushing and Lee Roberts as Capenhurst Villa's second string celebrated a 4-1 win at Bronze Social.

However, an Ian Hobday effort failed to prevent Ellesmere Port Reserves from going down 3-1 at St Werburgh's.
