The history of cross-border battles is littered with examples of players who have worn both the blue and white of Chester FC and the red of Wrexham at some point during their careers.

Indeed, Saturday's latest instalment of the fixture will see both left-backs - Johnny Hunt and Sean Newton - lining up against their former teams.

As there are just 13 miles between the two clubs, it is hardly surprising that so many players have played for both.

For supporters, even the suggestion of wearing your biggest rival's shirt is considered sacrilege. Yet for players, that's part of the job as contracts and regular football take precedence.

Grenville Millington, Elfed Morris and Mick Metcalf are among the Blues legends to have had a foot in the other camp at one time or another, but their achievements in a Chester shirt mean that can be forgiven.

Take a look at some of the names from the past and the present to have played for both in the gallery above.
