Chester FC were unable to make it back-to-back wins in the Vanarama National League as they fell to a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Barrow.

Goals from Jordan Chapell and Tom Shaw weren't enough for Steve Burr's side as Andy Haworth, Andy Cook and Niall Cowperthwaite all netted to secure maximum points for Darren Edmondson's Bluebirds.

Chapell had handed Chester the lead on the half hour mark but Haworth levelled five minutes later. And Cook's early second half goal gave Barrow the advantage but Shaw poked home to level on 72 minutes.

But it wasn't to be Chester's night as Cowperthwaite's 25-yarder beat Blues keeper Jon Worsnop on 77 minutes to earn the win for the Cumbrians who move up to 12th while Burr's side slip to 16th.
