AFC Saltney took centre stage when the Chester & District Sunday Football League staged its annual presentation evening for the 2014-15 season at Boughton Hall Cricket Club.

League secretary Trevor Jones and chairman Graham Johnson hosted the proceedings alongside fellow committee members as trophies and awards were presented to the season’s winners.

Pride of place went to AFC Saltney, who celebrated winning the Section A title for the first time having finished in the top four for the past three seasons.

Runners-up were FC Blacon, who have now completed their 11th consecutive season in the top flight - more than any other club.

FC Hickory’s were crowned Section B champions at the end of their most impressive campaign since joining the league four years ago.

AFC Bears Paw ended the season as runners-up and secured the second promotion spot, capping a very successful season for them having won the Bill Gresty Memorial Trophy in April.

The individual player of the season awards were presented to Jordan O’Brien from Lache for Section A and Matt McCann from newcomers Axis United for Section B.

The league committee would like to place on record its thanks to sponsors Concorde Trophies, Abbey Taxis and Granada Gas Services for their generous support.

It is envisaged a number of new clubs will be accepted into the league for next season at the annual general meeting, which is being held at The Cheshire County Sports Club on June 18.
