It’s heartbreak for the young Blues who gave everything they had and should consider themselves hard done to. Two goals from Rio Murray and Jamie Stott’s penalty cancelled out strikes from Tom Crawford and Oliver Nugent.

Chester have had a great chance to regain the lead with the diminutive Nathan Brown breaking clear but again Chris Renshaw in the Oldham goal stood his ground to save.

That was exactly the response Calum McIntyre would have wanted from his side. Chester recovered after the blow of going behind and that was some finish from Oli Nugent, who has been a real livewire. The Blues can win this.

What a strike! Chester hit back on 62 minutes through Oli Nugent. His performance deserved a goal and he pounced on a slip from Dylan King to lash a shot past Chris Renshaw.

The hosts hit the front on 55 minutes with a penalty from Jamie Stott. Chester keeper Harry Mates deemed to have brought down Rio Murray but it wasn’t a clear-cut decision. Stott’s spot kick was well taken.

Bright start
The Blues have begun this half well and really should be 2-1 ahead. Matt Waters curled over a delicious free-kick and Kevin Exell ghosted in unmarked but his effort flew over the bar.
