CHESTER Nomads Seconds missed the chance to open up a three-point lead in the Premier Division when they went down 3-1 at Frodsham United.

Nomads led with a first-half John Speakman goal, but Frodsham hit back after the break with a Lee Pedder double and a Lee Parkinson strike.

Blacon YC Reserves edged closer with a 7-1 thrashing of lowly visitors Upton VC, thanks to hat-tricks by Steve Cairns and Mike Price, with Steve Dee completing the rout.

Two goals by Mark Dutton, including a penalty, earned Newton Athletic Youth a 2-1 win at Barrow Athletic (Dave Norbury).

Bank of Scotland confirmed top spot in Division One by hitting Christleton A (Gareth Jones) for six, but second-placed Duddon United had a shock when they were beaten 6-2 at home by Kydds Athletic. Simon Whelan and Adam Jennings were on target for Kelsall in a 2-1 home win over Chester Nomads Thirds (Nick Isles) and Dave Roberts scored for Upton Borough in a 1-1 home draw with Team Highfield (Gary Ellams).

The games between Cestrian Alex and Tarporley Vics, Hoole Rangers and Brewery Arms, Crossway and Barrow Seconds and MBNA Reserves and Frodsham United Reserves were postponed because of waterlogged pitches.
