While Premier League clubs were busy shelling out over £1.1bn on players and Jim White was annoying football fans on Sky Sports, it was an altogether quieter affair in the National League.
There was no deadline day panic for Chester FC boss Jon McCarthy after the National League transfer window, which had operated in line with the Premier League and Football League since the 2005-2006 season, had the window restrictions placed upon them scrapped earlier in the summer.
That means that clubs in non-league football's top flight are able to add to their squad throughout the season and have transfer regulations that fall in line with National League North and South divisions.
With Fifa scrapping the emergency loan window, yesterday saw clubs in the Premier League and newly-branded EFL frantically scrapping to get their squads in order.
But Blues boss McCarthy and his National League counterparts have until the last Thursday in March to make changes to their squad, although restrictions on the number of loan players allowed in season remain.
