Signing off
A decent workout for the Blues and plenty of positives to take going into Saturday’s clash at home to Burton.
Full time
All square here at the Weaver Stadium. A good workout for the Blues against an up-for-it Nantwich side. Plenty to ponder.
Abadaki goes close
Nantwich break and Godwin Abadaki finds space but shoots tamely at Worsnop.
Break in play
Blaine Hudson receiving some treatment after going down under a challenge from Godwin Abadaki
Chester changes
Wade Joyce, Craig Mahon and Jordan Chapell on for Akintunde, Durrell and George.
Cooke close
The impressive Sean Cooke cuts in from the left and fires a low shot inches past the left upright. Close.
Well over
Steve Jones breaks on the right and his cross is headed away by Blaine Hudson as far as Wayne Riley who fires over from 20 yards.
Getting a bit tasty
A few meaty challenges going in here. Certainly not your typical pre-season training exercise.
Great chance
Andy White almost connects with a low cross but Blaine Hudson puts in a superb last-gasp tackle. Goes out for a corner which comes to nothing.
Close!
A great effort from Akintunde from 18 yards is pushed away for a corner by Parton. Very close.
Dave Powell's thoughts
Been a stern test for Chester during that opening half. The Dabbers have looked threatening going forward and deserved their goal through Jones. But Chester have come back well and played some decent stuff, with Elliott Durrell looking particularly impressive. James Akintunde has looked threatening alongside James Alabi but will be kicking himself at not getting on the scoresheet after missing two good chances to hand the Blues the lead. Plenty of food for thought in the first 45 minutes and the Blues will need to ensure they match the tempo of the home side who have looked to take the game to Chester.
Great save!
Good possession play from Nantwich finds Andy White who hits a low 25-yarder but Roberts gets down well and tips wide.
Saved
Hunt’s cross after good work from Durrell finds the head of Akintunde whose strong header is gathered by Parton.
Durrell impressing
The winger has been excellent so far and has been central to everything positive that the Blues have done going forward. Exciting prospect.
Akintunde should have scored
Striker breaks through on goal but Parton in the Nantwich goal wins the duel. Should be 2-1 Chester.
