VAUXHALL Motors fought back from two goals down to maintain their un-beaten start in Conference North with a 2-2 draw at Lancaster City.

First half goals from Jimmy Kelly and Lee Spike had put Lancaster in the driving seat. But a Steve McNulty penalty on 64 minutes and Karl O'Donnell's equaliser 10 minutes from time, his third goal in successive games, earned the Motormen a point.

The result saw Carl Macauley's men slip to fifth place, a point behind joint leaders Blyth Spartans and Droylsden but with a game in hand.

Prescot Cables ended Marine's un-beaten record in the UniBond Premier Division with a 2-1 win at Valerie Park.

Mark Duffy gave Cables a 56th minute lead and former Marine striker Dean Thurston added a second against his former club on 71 minutes before James Connolly pulled a goal back for the Mariners 10 minutes from time.

Burscough were beaten 3-2 at Mossley, but the game was overshadowed by a serious injury to Ryan Bowen. The midfielder was taken to hospital after crashing into a pitch-side wall. He was stretchered off in a neck brace after proceedings had been held up for 25 minutes.

When play resumed, Burscough took a 19th minute lead through Chris Price, but Anthony Bingham put Mossley level nine minutes later.

Melford Knight gave the home side a 71st minute lead, and although Price equalised with his second goal nine minutes from time, Danny White headed home Mossley's winner a minute later. Cammell Laird extended their un-beaten start in the First Division with a 4-0 home victory over Wakefield.

All the goals came in the first half, Jamie McGuire and Eddie Jebb putting Lairds in control before new signing Chris Nezianya struck twice in the closing stages of the half.

Skelmersdale United recorded their first win with a 3-2 home success against Bamber Bridge.

Skem took an early lead through Andy Barlow, and Carl Osman added a second 12 minutes after the interval.

Tom Ince struck twice in as many minutes to put the visitors level, but John Cass gave Skem the points. Warrington Town had skipper Douglas Pitts sent off midway through the second half as they lost 3-1 at Gresley Rovers.

Paul Edwards and Anthony Hemmings were on target for Gresley in the opening 20 minutes, and although Dave Tickle pulled a goal back for Warrington before the break, David Holmes added a third for the home side eight minutes from the end.

St Helens Town were beaten 1-0 at Atherton Collieries in the North West Counties League First Division.

Formby's home game against Abbey Hey tonight has been postponed because of problems with their Altcar Road pitch, while Runcorn Linnets bid to maintain their 100 per cent start in the Second Division when they take on Cheadle Town at Witton Albion.
