MOORFIELD are on target off the field after achieving the FA Charter Standard.

The club was pleased to have Chris Smith from Liverpool County FA at their Moorfield Road HQ, on Saturday, to help them to celebrate.

Moorfield have three open-age teams in the Warrington & District League as well as two teams, Moor-field Jnr U11s and Moorfield Celtic U12s, in the Halton & District Junior League.

David Ford, the Widnes-based club's first-team manager, thanked Jean Fielding of Moorfield Celtic for her efforts in achieving the Charter Standard and also Halton Borough Council for their continued support for grassroots football. nCronton Villa, Warrington & District League Division One leaders, were made to work for a 1-0 victory at Runcorn Albion whose commitment left chances at a premium.

Cronton were relieved when Paul Tillet scored on the hour with a far-post header.

Halton Borough were foiled by a late Vicars equaliser, Doug Boyle snatching a point after Mike Higginson had put Boro ahead.

But second-placed Rainhill Town kept up the pressure with a 2-1 victory over Avon Athletic in third.

Cronton Villa Reserves bounced back from last week's hiding at Sidac with a 3-1 win over high-flying Division One Vulcan in the Reg Oliver Trophy second round.

Vulcan took an early lead but a second-half equaliser from Andy Mc Guffie and two extra-time strikes from Chris Nichols gave Cronton victory and a Cup rematch with Sidac. John Sharrat shaded Baz Griffiths for man-of-the-match.

Mill Brow missed out in Division Two where goals from Grahame Shone (2) and Jamie Donegan couldn't avert a 4-3 home defeat by next-to-bottom Lomax.

In the Reserve Division One relegation battle, St Michael's beat Haydock to climb the table.

Second-placed Ford Res could only draw at Halebank.

Moorfield Res, top of Reserve Division Two, continued their winning ways with a 3-1 win at Stockton Lane while Rainhill Town moved into third spot with a 2-0 win against Widnes Bayer.

Moorfield 3rd and Runcorn Albion Res, the top two in Reserve Division Three, had to settle for a point each against Grange Safeway Res and Orford YC Res, respectively.
