AIRBUS UK's up-and-down pre-season form has continued.

After falling to surprise defeats to Heswall and Mynydd Isa, the Wingmakers player-boss Gareth Owen demanded an improvement from his players.

On Saturday, he got it as they left neighbours Holywell Town with a 7-1 win under their belts.

James McIntosh bagged a brace, while there was one each for Owen, James Hussaney, Gareth Sudlow, Ryan Maloney and Nathan Mapletoft.

However, the Broughton side failed to build on that when they went down 3-1 at lower-league Bala on Tuesday.

The only consolation they could take from the match was yet another goal for striker Mapletoft, who is pushing hard for a place in Owen's starting line-up after his impressive summer performances since his switch from West Cheshire League Division Three outfit St Werburgh's.

Owen knows his team will have no room for error once they kick off the campaign, which begins with the daunting visit of defending champions TNS a week today.

That is why the former Wrexham midfielder is putting great emphasis on tomorrow's trip to Llandyrnog, who play alongside Bala in the Cymru Alliance. It is the Wingmakers final match of pre-season.
