MIDDLEWICH suffered a shock Cheshire Amateur Cup exit after missing a dozen good chances against West Cheshire League Second Division visitors.

'They had four shots and scored three and their goal-keeper was outstanding, so good luck to them,' said Town boss Terry Murphy.

Middlewich twice took the lead - and lost it - in the first half. Joey Roberts and Mike Brandon, before he departed with a rib injury, were the marksmen.

They dominated the second half, but missed a succession of chances.

In the first period of extra time Andy Tutt went close and Nomads instantly broke clear and scored with the help of a ricochet.

Barnton 4 Bentley 1: Barnton were disappointed with the scoreline against Crewe League opposition, but they did not play well.

The main talking points of the tie were provided by veteran goalkeeper Barry Crellin, who saved a penalty with the score at 1-0, and by newcomer Ben Carrigan, who was involved in all four goals.

A good finish by Dave Tasker put Barnton ahead on 19 minutes and Kyle Dyson netted five minutes before the break. An own goal from a Carrigan cross and a cracking header by Dyson sealed the victory, which was dented by Bentley's 88th minute consolation. Congleton Res 1 Lostock Gralam 2: Lostock grabbed a last-gasp winner in the Mid-Cheshire League, Buckley netting from the spot after Jones had been fouled.

They started brightly and Fullwood put them ahead with a stunning 35 yarder from a poor clearance.

McGahern missed a sitter before the break and Garbon equalised after the restart and Crawford went close for Lostock as both sides searched entertainingly for a winner.

WITTON ALBION RES were beaten 3-1 at Lino-Cheadle in Division One and MIDDLEWICH TOWN went down 2-1 at Crosfields in the Reserves Division.
