Steve Burr wants his improving side to start picking up more points on the road, beginning at Eastleigh on Saturday (3pm).

Chester are unbeaten in five home games but have lost five from eight away from the Swansway Chester Stadium.

Burr's side will be good odds to improve that record against the Spitfires, who are unbeaten in nine games at the Silverlake Stadium.

Eastleigh won promotion last season and ambitious owner Stewart Donald, who has ploughed £3 million into the club, has pledged to keep on spending to take them into the Football League.

Donald made his fortune in the insurance game and since 2012 has been bankrolling the Spitfires, who won the Wessex League – the equivalent of the North West Counties League – in 2003.

His ambitions were underlined with a summer recruit drive that saw the likes of Jack Midson, James Constable and Paul Reid arrive in Hampshire.

Richard Hill’s side are 11th in the table and have struggled away from home but have a formidable home record, six wins and three draws from nine games, and are four points off the play-offs.

Burr said: "They have an ambitious chairman and have done very well to get to the Conference.

"You can see that the intention is there to go again and get themselves into the Football League but we've come off the back of a few good results so will be confident in ourselves to get a positive result and keep improving.

"I feel we're getting better and better as every week passes, which can only be a good thing.

"It would be nice to experience some of those great home wins on the road in the league too, so hopefully we can reward the travelling supporters again - who I'm sure will be in great voice once again despite the long trek - and give them a good performance to enjoy."

Michael Kay starts a three-game suspension after being sent off at the weekend so club captain Matty Brown will come back in.

Burr had doubts over winger Craig Mahon, who turned his ankle in training on Tuesday, and goalkeeper Jon Worsnop, who sliced his foot in the shower in a freak accident at home, but both are expected to be fit.
