MARTYN Lancaster has secured a move to Queen of the South after his wife compiled a 10-minute highlights package of him and posted it on the internet!

Former Blues defender Lancaster had been playing for Atlanta Silverbacks in America, but he found himself without a club after they went bust in November.

Step forward wife Mysti, who posted a ‘best of’ clip of Lancaster showcasing his footballing skills on video hosting website YouTube. It was seen by Scottish agent Jake Duncan who showed it to a number of clubs.

A couple of phone calls and a trans-Atlantic flight later, Lancaster was offered a trial by Queen of the South, who last week decided to sign him up on a six-month contract.

The Wigan-born 28-year-old, who played more than 100 games for Chester from 1998-2003, made his Queens debut against Falkirk in last week’s Scottish Cup defeat.

Lancaster told the Daily Record: “It’s been a strange series of events, an incredible week or so and I still can’t quite believe what’s happened.

“I was without a team and had a couple of offers in the States but I missed British football. I missed the passion and wanted to get back to that.

“The problem was I had been forgotten about by anyone who had known me.

“So that’s when the YouTube thing came about. I couldn’t even log on to a computer or do anything else but my wife put the package of me together and then posted it. So it’s all her fault!”
