Manchester United FC: Steve Evans has warned Sir Alex Ferguson his team are coming to Old Trafford to 'cause the biggest shock the world has ever seen'.

But second best for the Crawley Town boss will be a handshake from his fellow Glaswegian.

Nothing about controversial Evans is understated.

And the failed former Bolton Wanderers youth team player is determined the Conference favourites will leave their mark in Saturday’s David versus Goliath FA Cup fifth round contest.

“It’s going to be a fantastic day,” enthused the 48-year-old Scot, a self-confessed Reds fanatic.

“I know as crazy as it sounds we will go there hoping to win.

“We know Sir Alex will make changes with the Champions League in mind.

“And we must hope the side he picks doesn’t have a good day while we have an outstanding one. But the United fans will at least see us come and play.

“It wouldn’t be like us to get 10 men behind the ball.

“We won’t go there to kick people. That’s not how Steve Evans’ teams play.

“We have a lot of flair players for our level who like to get on the ball and play.”

Evans is no stranger to his opposite number. But their career paths have taken hugely contrasting directions.

“To me, United are the biggest club in the world,” adds the former Boston United boss.

“And they have the best manager that has ever lived.

“Maybe there is an argument for others in the past. But I don’t see any.

“But this game has got added values for me.

“I played for Fergie’s brother, Martin, at Albion Rovers when Sir Alex was up at Aberdeen.

“I don’t know him, though I’ve met him a few times at functions.

"I remember the handshake, he won't."
