LUIS SUAREZ has dismissed speculation over his future at Liverpool by insisting: “I want to stay.”

The Reds striker has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer with Paris St Germain understood to be keen on securing his services.

But Suarez says he’s happy with the Reds and has revealed there have been discussions about signing a new contract.

The Uruguayan has endured a turbulent first full season with Liverpool. He served an eight-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra and was then criticised by the club when he failed to shake the Manchester United defender’s hand.

But Suarez showcased his world class talent when he scored his 11th goal of the campaign in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Stoke City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and says he isn’t considering a new challenge.

“I want to stay,” Suarez said.

“Despite everything that happened, I’m happy here, on and off the pitch.

“Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in Europe, with a history. As a child I saw them play and loved it. And the club are happy with me and want me to stay.

“I have a contract until 2016 and they already want to renew it for me. The coach (Kenny Dalglish) still believes in me and that’s very important, especially after having been out for eight matches.”

Suarez has always protested in innocence over the incident with Evra and maintains that he was treated unfairly by the FA’s disciplinary process.

“What hurts me is that I was at the trial and there was no concrete proof,” he added.

“It was simply my word against that of the other player and they believed him. That hurt me a lot.

“I’ve already played in other countries, a lot of people know me and I’ve shown who I am. I don’t think I deserve to have been treated as I was.”

Suarez has expressed an interest in being part of Uruguay’s squad for the Olympic Games this summer.

However, his involvement in London 2012 would mean him missing most of Liverpool’s pre-season programme, including the tour of North America.

The striker admits the Reds may not agree to his request.

“If we were playing the Champions League it would be highly unlikely they’d let me go but now we’re a long way from achieving that,” he added.

“The Premier League starts in the middle of August, I don’t know if they’d let me go. I haven’t talked about it at all with the club.”
