And that’s the game! Hungerford caught out as a long Ian Shaprps pass sets Ross Hannah free and he keeps his cool to race clear and fire past Studley.

GOAL! Chester FC 1 Hungerford Town 0

Jordan Chapell, jeered moments earlier, breaks the deadlock with a well placed shot from 18 yards. Mahon’s assist opened up the visitors’ defence.

Tide turning?

Hungerford sense they can win this. Preen gets in behind Higgins but his tame shot is straight at Worsnop.

  • Share

Studley saves again

And another chance for the Blues as Ross Hannah opens up and fires in a low shot but again Studley saves.

  • Share

Comfortable stop

Jordan Chapell hits the target from 25 yards but a routine save for Paul Strudley.

  • Share

Let off

The clearest chance of the game falls to the visitors and it requires an excellent save from Jon Worsnop to prevent Scott Rees giving them the lead from Preen’s cross.

  • Share

Inches wide

Better from the Blues. Lloyd tees up Rooney and he tries to curl it inside the keeper’s right hand post but the ball whistles wide.

  • Share

Blues pressing

Decent start to the second period from the home side. Ross Hannah nudged an an effort onto the roof of the net but the flag was up.

Back on the pitch

The teams return to the field and the Blues have made a change as Ryan Lloyd replaces Danny Hattersley.

HT Chester FC 0 Hungerford Town 0

A few boos ring out as the half-time whistle sounds. The Blues have had plenty of the ball and a couple of half chances but have so far not been able to prise open a well organised Hungerford back four.

  • Share

Flat

Hungerford in fairness are doing a number on the Blues at the moment. Very solid and very hard to break down. Have Chester got what it takes to open them up? Not so far.

  • Share

Well wide

James Rusby with a shooting chance for the visitors but he fluffs his lines and fires well wide.

  • Share

Good chance goes begging

Hunt’s low cross finds Chapell and he tries to squad and it hits Hattersley and goes over.

  • Share

Movement

Steve Burr has been yelling at his player to provide more movement. It’s all a little bit predictable at the moment and Hungerford aren’t being asked any serious questions.

  • Share

Crusaders holding their own

Nat Jarvis heads wide from a Rhys Tyler cross. Hungerford knocked the ball around well there.

  • Share

Wide

Space opens up for Jordan Chapell and he tries his luck from 20 yards but doesn’t get his shot right and it bends well wide of the target.

  • Share

Chance

Craig Mahon’s cross finds Hattersley who heads it back to Hunt who forces Studley into a save with a header of his own from eight yards. Better from the Blues.
