LIVERPOOL Reserves cruised to an emphatic 4-1 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Nathan Eccleston, Suso, Ryan McLaughlin and Michael Ngoo were all on target as Rodolfo Borrell’s side produced an outstanding performance.

It was a first home defeat of the season for the Premier Reserve League South leaders.

Eccleston opened the scoring after a great pass from Michael Roberts and then created the second goal. The striker’s deflected shot found Suso at the back post and he hammered the ball into the roof of the net.

Northern Ireland youth international McLaughlin made it 3-0 early in the second half. He started the move with a brilliant run down the right and found Eccleston whose effort came back off the post. McLaughlin was on hand to net the rebound.

Villa pulled a goal back from the penalty spot through Daniel Johnson after Conor Coady was harshly judged to have impeded Jack Grealish.

Ngoo came off the bench to score the Reds’ fourth after a fine break from Raheem Sterling.

The winger unselfishly crossed for Ngoo to net.

LIVERPOOL RESERVES: Ward, McLaughlin (Smith 90), Mendy, Sama, Wisdom, Coady, Suso, Roberts, Eccleston (Ngoo 80), Adorjan, Sterling. Unused: Belford, McGiveron, Roddan.
