BLACON YC Reserves took advantage of Tarporley Vics' postponed match to move four points clear at the top of the Premier Division.

Goals from Paul Joiner (2), Richard Daponeao, Brendan Gerrard and Peter Grady saw Blacon home to a 5-3 win over Frodsham, Gavin Daily grabbing two for United.

Blacon travel to bottom club Barrow Athletic tomorrow confident of stretching their lead at the top.

The only other game in the division in a busy weekend of cup football saw Duddon United and Team Highfield battle out a 4-4 thriller.

Adam Langton and Lee Cooke grabbed two a piece for Highfield, Matty Botton, Sean Roberts, Mike Parker and Richard Jones on target for Duddon.

In the only game in Division One, Team Highfield 2nds also hit four against Crossway, their opponents only managing two in reply, both from John Latham.

The Challenge Cup round two dominated the weekend's action, with Saltney Vets recording the win of the round with a 6-1 victory against Malpas Reserves, Peter Donnolly and Lee Woodworth scoring two each.

Kelvin Hughes also bagged a brace for Waggon & Horses in a 4-0 win against Kelsall, and Ian Riddler was twos-up for Newton Athletic Youth as they beat Chester Nomads 2nds 3-0.

Nomads 4ths faired better as they won 4-1 at home to Barrow Athletic 2nds, Dave Tills, Micky Carroll, Ian McCullen and Craig Ashton on the scoresheet.

Nathan Freeman missed a penalty to complete his hat-trick as Hoole Rangers beat Ashton Lions 2-1, and the same scoreline saw Blacon YC A through against Tarvin Athletic, Jordan Sharp and Steve Price with the goals.

In the Wirral FA Junior Cup second round, Andy Crawford scored twice to help Castrol Social to a 4-1 win over Big House, and Bebington Athletic also hit four against FC Village through Chris Drew, Carl Brown, Kevin Bromsgrove and Ian Garner.
