RYAN CRUMP is happy to make sacrifices as he battles to make the grade at Liverpool's Academy.

The 17-year-old goalkeeper from Chester, who is battling with Ryan Fulton for the under-18s’ No. 1 jersey, is enjoying his fourth season at Kirkby following his switch from Wrexham.

“I see my mates going out and I know I can’t do that,” he said.

“We need to rest before and after games and that means you can’t have late nights. It’s part of the challenge of becoming a footballer and it’ll be worth it.

“I think I’ve improved during my time here, although I know I need to continue improving.

“We all get on well. Training with lads like Ryan Fulton, Jamie Stephens, Tyrell Belford and Danny Ward is good because we push each other to do better.”
