England C midfielder Kingsley James has confirmed he will be leaving Chester FC .
James' future has been in doubt since it emerged the 23-year-old had stalled over the offer of a contract extension on improved terms.
He has been linked with a move to National League rivals FC Halifax Town, closer to his home in Barnsley as he continues to support his mother through an illness.
James joined the Blues on a 12-month deal from Hereford United last summer.
He was a revelation in central midfield over the first half of the campaign - leading to him being mentioned as a possible target for Football League clubs - before his form dipped following a red card in the goalless draw at Southport in January.
Rotherham-born James did return to form at the back end of the season, netting in the 5-3 win over Nuneaton Town on the final afternoon.
In total he made 46 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
