Former Chester FC goalkeeper Jon Worsnop has taken to Twitter to thank the fans, players and staff after calling time on his Blues career this week.

Worsnop and the club had a mutual parting of the ways on Wednesday as the 33-year-old sought pastures new in a bid to find more regular first-team football having had to share the gloves with Liam Roberts this season.

And the goalkeeper took to social media to thank the fans, players and club staff following his departure and posted a video of the celebrations in the dressing room following the memorable 2-1 win over Southend United in the FA Cup first round at Roots Hall in November 2014.

That FA Cup run was to provide Worsnop with some of his finest moments for the Blues as he put on a goalkeeping masterclass in the second round as they held League One side Barnsley to a 0-0 draw at Oakwell.

On that day, roared on by 2,143 travelling fans, Worsnop produced a superb display to thwart the Tykes despite breaking his cheekbone during the game.
