NANTWICH Town have brought in an international rescue force to ease their injury problems.

The Dabbers, flying high in the North West Counties League, have been hit by injuries to several key men, including strikers Andy Kinsey and Danny Griggs and defender, player-boss Steve Davis.

Now they have signed former Champions League ace Gyorgy Kiss, a 31-year-old Hungarian defender with two national titles to his name.

And they have captured Cypriot Michael Chailis, a 23-year-old left winger who has trained with Crewe Alex for around six months.

Chairman Clive Jackson said: 'Gyorgy has a great pedigree. He played in the Champions League and UEFA Cup with his Hungarian club Vasas, and has been part of the Hungary national squad.

'It was a frustrating process to sign Michael but he made his debut in our 1-0 win over Salford on Saturday and did very well. We are grateful for Crewe Alex's help.

'Both players are trying to get their careers off the ground in England, and they see Nantwich as the perfect starting point. These are exciting times at Jackson Avenue.'

Kiss is understood to live in Wistaston after marrying an English woman. A trial at Chesterfield was unsuccessful in the summer. Chailis, a former professional with FC Limassol, lives with his family in Nantwich.

Meanwhile, Davis has been honoured by the Northern Football Writers Association, alongside Sir Alex Ferguson, Rafa Benitez and Accrington manager John Coleman.

He received a magnum of champagne at a ceremony ay the Radisson Hotel, Manchester, in recognition of Nantwich's FA Vase success last season.
