TARPORLEY clinched the Premier Division title on Saturday when Henry Buckley's first-half goal gave them a slender victory at Frodsham United.

There were also celebrations for Barrow Athletic who gained their first win of the season. Goals by Lee Hart, Matt Williamson, Steve Brown and Jeff Wood earned a 4-2 win at Chester Nomads Seconds who had Steve Goodyear and John Roberts on target.

Brewery Arms cruised to a 3-0 lead at Kydds Athletic who hit back to score four second-half goals from Andy Robinson, Ian Savage and Mike Neary only to go down by the odd goal in five. Scorers for the visitors were Chris Donnolly (3), Chris Gilmartin and Kevin McGovern.

In the only Division One match a second-half strike by Pete Hanson gave Bank of Scotland victory over Tarvin Athletic.

Team Highfield stormed into the final of the Cayzer Shield by thrashing Duddon United 8-1. Gary Tomlinson led the rout with a hat-trick, including two penalties, Simon Davies added two in as many minutes and Gary Ellams, Jason Perry and Lee Coots completed the scoring.

In the final they will meet Kelsall who edged past Frodsham United Reserves by 2-1, John Davenport scoring both goals.
