Chester FC have issued an open challenge to grassroots football teams to provide the opposition for a match as part of the club's community day.

The Blues have asked for assistance from The Chronicle to find an adult team in the Chester area who are ready to take on the Vanarama National League side on the hallowed Lookers Vauxhall Stadium turf.

The match will be one of the highlights of the club's free community day, which is being held at the ground on Sunday, July 19.

Teams up for the challenge need to email assistant manager Jon McCarthy via jon.mccarthy@chesterfc.com before 6pm on Thursday explaining what makes them the perfect opponents.

The winning team will be confirmed on Friday and must be available to attend the event on Sunday.

The team will get the chance to train on the pitch before taking on a Blues squad that includes Ben Heneghan, John Rooney and Ross Hannah in front of the fans.

Held as part of the Match 4 Macmillan initiative, the community day features a host of free activities for families.

Running from 10am until 3pm, there will be an open training session with the first-team and the chance to have autographs and photographs.

A five-a-side competition is being held at Goals Soccer Centre with the latter stages taking place on the pitch at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium. Entries to the competition cost £50 per team with proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

There will also be a hog roast, inflatables, climbing wall and a host of stalls promoting community groups and organisations.
