AFC LACHE have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Whitchurch Sports Sunday FA Cup.

Their quarter-final tie against Waverton on Sunday was the only game in the Chester & District Sunday League to survive the weekend’s bad weather.

Kevin McGovern open the scoring for Lache after 15 minutes, but Waverton responded 10 minutes later through Terry Farrell. On 35 minutes a defensive mistake let in Aden Callaghan to put Lache back in front.

The second half remained tight, with both teams having chances. Just as Waverton began to look the stronger side, Lache’s Scott Beech scored the clincher with only five minutes left.

Chester Nomads were involved in a high-scoring encounter in the West Cheshire League on Saturday. They drew 4-4 at Cammell Laird Reserves, courtesy of goals by Kieron Smith, Dale Harris and Dan Lloyd (2).
