The Motormen were denied by a spectacular last-minute equaliser as they played out an entertaining draw with Boston at Rivacre Park on Saturday.

Marc Newsham’s late effort rescued the Lincolnshire outfit, after Vauxhall had led 2-0 at one stage.

Chris Noone scored a brace for the Motormen, who sit 10th in the Skrill North division.

Despite a bright start from the visitors, it was Vauxhall who took the lead on nine minutes. Louis Barnes did well to get to the byline and his pinpoint cross was turned home at the back post by Noone.

It was soon 2-0, as Noone doubled his tally. Matty Williams played in a delightful diagonal ball to the right edge of the penalty area and the midfielder fired home with a sweetly-struck volley.

Boston, though, pulled a goal back a minute before the break as a cross from the left was flicked on by Newsham with former Nottingham Forest striker Spencer Weir-Daley tapping home into an empty net.

The second half saw the Pilgrims press for an equaliser. Ricky Miller had a shot saved by Zac Jones before firing over.

Midway through the second period, the hosts enjoyed some pressure but a Danny Fearnehough blocked shot was the sum total of their efforts.

The equaliser finally came in the final minute of normal time in spectacular style, with Newsham volleying into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

Motors’ next fixture is on Saturday when they travel to Hednesford Town (3pm). Their next home game is on Tuesday (September 17) when Stockport County visit Rivacre Park (7.45pm).
