Vauxhall Motors 0 Harrogate Town 1

A MOMENT of brilliance from Harrogate’s Lee Elam condemned Motors to defeat in Blue Square North on Tuesday.

Winger Elam – a former Chester City loanee – weaved his way through the Vauxhall defence from the halfway line before cutting inside and unleashing a fine right-footed strike from 15 yards in the 78th minute.

Harrogate held on despite having Ian Ross sent off for picking up two yellow cards.

It was the second home loss in a week for Motors, who went down 1-0 to Workington on Saturday after missing a series of chances. Keeper Aaron Taylor was man of the match for the visitors.

Vauxhall are in FA Cup qualifying action this Saturday at Ashington of the Northern League (3pm).
